Here's some pics from that cute little mock German town I told you about from the 'girls weekend out' I spent with my two sisters and my mother (the one where I conspired to get my younger sister drunk in the spa!). It's about two hours north of Atlanta in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's insanely busy during the beautiful Georgia autumn, and hosts it's own Oktoberfest.
All the buildings--even the fast food joints--are required to match the Bavarian style of architecture that began in the 1960's, all on the suggestion of one clever guy who thought up the theme in order to generate tourism to the otherwise sleepy town. It had absolutely nothing to do with German immigration--and silly me thought that it had my whole life until this trip! Haha.
One of the great summertime amusements is inner-tubing down the Chattahochee River that runs through the town. Many of the restaurants and beer gardens face the water like this one does.

Place where we ate lunch overlooking the river.
Civil War chess, anyone??
For classy rednecks!
Our adorable little cabin, which was sitting in a maze of unholy hillside roads, which were way fun navigating in the rain after midnight when we arrived, oh yea. According to my older sister the couches were just FULL OF SEMEN because 60 Minutes said so, apparently. So we joked all weekend that we were all going to get pregnant just sitting on them.
Dramatizing the crazy steep inclines that made us all want to claw out our eyeballs in the SUV.
The antique shop in which we lost my younger sister for several hours, and I scored a pair of vintage earrings.
The deep-fried pickles at Zaxby's that I just had to eat to be sure I really did gain 5 pounds during my visit home in the States! Like Scarlett O'Hara said, "I'll think about that later!" haha.
Who loves fried pickles???????? MMMmmmmmmmm! *falls off chair clutching heart*
P.S. I got my younger sister totally wasted. Success!
